Blogging 202

Posted by Michelle on October 16th, 2007

Earlier this year we had the opportunity to teach down at the Arizona Small Business Association about blogging. This has proven to be a helpful class for small businesses and even non-profits.

The class focused on:

  • Using the administration screens of Wordpress (Our blogging software of choice! Until something better comes along that is…)
  • Selecting a theme and customizing it for your needs
  • Writing and publishing posts
  • Using plugins
  • Notable websites for blogging
  • Posting comments
  • Applications for blogging
  • Best Practices

If you did not get a chance to attend, we set up a blog-site, (www.blogging202.com) named after the class, that has all of our notes from the course. Sort of like cheating, isn’t it? Nah. Since I have found myself recommending this site to a number of our blogging clients recently, I thought I’d write about it again here at our TCS blog. We hope this site proves useful for those of you who have entered into the world of blogging!

Best of luck!

PodCampAZ.org Receives Positive Reviews

Posted by Michelle on October 12th, 2007

We are flattered to have gotten great compliments from various individuals on the design and functionality of our newest blog-site PodCampAZ.org. Read a comment from Patrick about what he likes about this blog site. Here is the first paragraph from his article… Thanks Patrick!

“I stumbled upon this beautiful website design after checking a favorite blog of mine, iBoughtaMac. I was watching a viddler post while noticing a Moo card introduction. The PodCampAZ miniCard that Brent (writer, and I believe owner of iBoughtaMac) had been showing. I was interested about this because I have actually never heard of PodCamp! I remember hearing some things back a couple years ago, people hyping up the fact that it was a new sort of meet-up! I was never into Podcasting and even at the time, never really into conferences. But now I see the genius and the fun a conference can be, oops I mean unconference.”

March Series: Son of Blog a Success!

Posted by Michelle on March 28th, 2007

TCS recently held our first Blogging 2.0 seminar down at the Arizona Small Business Association, hosted by Ron Cates of Constant Contact. Brent Spore, with help from members of the TCS team, instructed on the details of blogging and how to use your blog to its full potential. We covered alot of information so, if you feel that you didn’t get enough or just need to refresh your memory on the details we talked about, feel free to visit www.blogging202.com.

For those of you who were able to attend we want to thank you for being a part. We really appreciate all of your questions and thoughts- in fact some of your questions helped us to improve our knowledge on blogging for future blogging seminars. Thank you!
